Farmland Trust Gets First Huron Endowment

A ceremony south of Goderich has marked the first endowment of farmland in Huron County to the Ontario Farmland Trust.

The land is the 141-acre Hindmarsh farm, on Highway 21, just south of Goderich.

Marian Hindmarsh says she and her late husband, John moved to the property in 1947.

She says the family shared her late husband's appreciation of the property and wanted to make sure it would be preserved...

The property remains in the hands of the family and can be sold in the future.

But any potential purchasers would have to accept the conditions of the endowment, primarily that the land not be developed and continue to be what it is today.
