Farm Advisory Board

CKNX Radio's Ray Baynton presents 2009 FAB Bursary to Margaret Vincent

North Huron Student Wins $1,000

Her nominator says Margaret Vincent has won every possible Huron County 4-H award over the past few years.  Now Vincent can add the CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board FAB Bursary to her list of honours.  She was selected from a total of 8 applicant for this year’s Bursary.

The R. R. 3 Wingham student is in the second year of the Environmental Management and Agriculture program at the Ridgetown Campus of the University of Guelph.  Nominator Florence Pullen says considering her past leadership involvement in 4-H and other agriculture related activities Pullen is confident she’ll continue to be a leader in the agricultural community when her formal education is finished.

Besides her 4-H involvement Margaret Vincent has also been involved with the Huron Plowmen’s Association, Junior Farmers, school events like Ridgetown’s annual Spring Expo and competed in the 2007 Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture competition at the Royal.

She says she’s taking the Environmental Management program at Ridgetown to help put some common-sense into the application of environmental legislation in the agriculture industry.

The CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board administers the annual 1 thousand dollar FAB Bursary.  The Board includes representation from across Midwestern Ontario and from across the agriculture and agribusiness spectrum.  It administers both the FAB Bursary program and the annual FAB Award program.  Nominations for the FAB Award are now open, with a February 28th, 2010 deadline.  The Board also provides feedback and input to CKNX Radio in the station's ongoing efforts to provide a strong service to the agriculture and agri-business community in Midwestern Ontario.
